Your Custom Domain

This is worth explaining, even though it seems obvious - how the Alpaka URL works and how you get to your Alpaka account.

www.alpaka.io is our website, and like most websites, it works without the "www" too. The part before alpaka.io is called a subdomain. On most websites the subdomain is "www", but it can be set to anything - so we use it as your team name, and you get anything.alpaka.io as the URL for your Alpaka account.

We normally use your company name. If your company is "Company X", your URL would be companyx.alpaka.io. The main exceptions are if that name is already taken, if it's too short to be distinct, or if it's too long to be convenient to type. So a name gets shortened or made more practical where needed.

For example, demo.alpaka.io is a real instance of Alpaka. Typing that in takes you to a login page very quickly, and that page will only last a few minutes while you're logging in - so don't bookmark it. Once you've logged in, you're taken back to the URL you originally wanted, the one you typed in or clicked from an email. That's the page you should bookmark, and the one you should type in every time you want to get to Alpaka.

Signing out works by hovering over your name once you've logged in, where you'll find the option. You won't need to guess your URL - you'll have received it in an email - but that's the URL you need to access your instance of Alpaka.
