First Time Log In

This is how you log in to your instance of Alpaka. You've either followed a link in an email that's brought you to a page that looks like this, or you know how to type in a web address to get to your page. Either way, here's where you log in, and it will be your company name shown here so you know you're in the right place.

Like most things on the internet, your login is an email address and a password. If you've logged in to Alpaka before and you've just forgotten your password, clicking here is how you reset it. If you're a first-time login and you've not been given a password, it's still the same link and the same process - it's not that we don't remember it, it's that there isn't one yet.

When you click "don't remember my password", you land on a page where all you have to do is type in your email address and click reset password. It tells you it's emailed you a link, and the reason for that is so it knows it's genuinely you, because only you would be able to get to the email at that address. Because it's a first-time email to you, it might end up in your spam or junk mail folder - take a look in there, drag it into your inbox or mark it as not junk, and future emails will always come to your inbox after that.

When the email arrives, click the link and you'll land on a page where you can set your new password and then repeat it, so the system knows you've entered it correctly. Your password needs a certain number of characters, a capital letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character. You can come up with your own password and remember it, but a good approach is a passphrase or a sentence - spaces and words are fine in a password provided it's long enough that someone couldn't guess it.

Once you've changed your password, you can log in. In future your browser will remember who you are and offer a shortcut to get in quickly.

If you're already logged in and want to change your password because you think someone else knows it, or you're a manager or administrator and a colleague has asked you to change theirs, here's what that looks like. Go to Team, find the person, and there you can set a new password and repeat it, then save. That's possible, but not always recommended, because then you'd know their password too - it's best that everybody sets their own. As a manager, instead of setting it yourself, you can send them a password reset email directly from their team record so they can set it themselves without telling you what it is.
