Lets Hear it For The Stay-cation!

Holiday at home

Christmas is well and truly over and attention has turned to holidays and losing weight to fit into the swimwear. Holiday adverts are EVERYWHERE! The images of beautiful people, on beautiful beaches, eating beautiful food are torturous.

I'm not anti-travel, but I think it is worth taking a "Holiday at Home" once in a while. Who spends more time at work than in their home? Do you make use of the space you have lovingly created and paid for? Hands up who says at least once a week: "Wouldn't it be nice to try that new bar in town" or "We really should make more use of what is on our doorstep!".

How about giving this a try; book a week or few days holiday from work and rather than rushing around packing, flying half-way around the world or spending hours in a car to get to your destination, stay at home and don't spend the time doing DIY!!

You can lay in, have breakfast in bed, spend time cooking without having to rush, you could go to the gym at 11am instead of 5:30am. You might take a day-trip to a nearby town or city, see some of the sights and have a leisurely lunch in a nice restaurant. You could spend time sitting in your garden reading a book for pleasure not just because you need to mug up on something for work. You could book yourself a massage or a spa session and have an indulgent afternoon. There are so many ways you could take the time that you probably need to book two weeks off instead of one. Maybe the hardest part will be making yourself slow down and trying not to fit too much in.

So what if your colleagues have spent 14 night sleeping in a hotel on stilts in the sea off a remote island, what is the first thing they say once they're back at work .... "It was lovely, but it is great to be home!" or "I hardly feel like I’ve been away, it feels like a lifetime ago already!" I'm sure you will find that you go back to work feeling refreshed, relaxed, with a sense of achievement and a much healthier bank balance! Go on, give a Stay-cation a try!!
